- HDMI cable is loose or unplugged
- Noise / interference across wires
Step-by-Step Resolution
Safety first
Before checking internal cables, power the booth off and unplug it from the outlet.
-
Step 1 — Identify physical screen damage
If the LCD is cracked, has dead pixels, or has permanent black areas, the screen likely needs replacement.
Next action: Contact ATA Photobooths Tech Support so we can verify the LCD dimensions and match what we have in stock.
-
Step 2 — Confirm booth power is solid
Double-check the booth power cable is fully seated and plugged into a working outlet (test the outlet if needed).
If the booth/head unit powers on but the LCD does not, continue to the cable checks below.
-
Step 3 — If the screen is blue, reseat the HDMI connections
If you see a blue screen, confirm the HDMI cable is plugged in securely:
- Behind the booth near the top section
- In the middle section of the booth
Unplug, then firmly replug each HDMI connection to ensure a solid seat. -
Step 4 — If the screen flickers, reseat the ribbon cable
If the LCD flickers or cuts out, unplug and replug the ribbon cable (located behind the HDMI cable in the middle of the booth).
Important If you cannot access the ribbon cable safely, stop here and contact Technical Support.
-
Step 5 — Confirm top-of-column Ethernet + USB are seated
Check the Ethernet cable behind the back panel on top of the column is plugged in, and confirm the USB cable right next to it is also connected.
This helps eliminate communication/power-related behavior that can look like a display issue.
-
Step 6 — Reduce noise/interference
If the issue is intermittent (blacking out briefly, lines that come and go), inspect cable routing:
- Make sure cables are not pinched
- Keep signal cables (HDMI/ribbon) away from high-power wiring when possible
- Reseat connectors firmly to reduce vibration-related disconnects
